Pair of Gators Achieve Career Milestones on Tuesday vs. Union

Senior outfielder Madalyn Ring (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) had career hit number 100, part of a 1-for-2 with a run scored performance.
Junior pitcher Leah Madore (Williamsville, VT/Brattleboro Union) struck out seven Union batters during three innings of relief, surpassing 350 career strikeouts in the process. The right-hander closed the night with 354 career Ks, the most by an RSC pitcher.
After the Garnet Chargers (11-18) used a five-run second inning to pick up an 8-2 victory, lightning and rain arrived during the bottom of the first inning to wash away the second contest. It will not be resumed.
Junior infielder Hannah Smith (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa/Saint Rose) plated both RSC runs with a single in the fifth.
Freshman pitcher Carra Cleaves excelled in the circle and at the plate for Union. Coming off a no-hitter vs. SUNY Potsdam on Monday, the rookie allowed no hits until there was one-out in the fifth. The right-hander, who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, permitted just three hits and struck out eight during her complete game.
RSC (14-21), battling for a home game in next week's Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament, is back in action tomorrow afternoon at SUNY Poly.
