CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Junior Leah Madore (Williamsville, VT/Brattleboro Union) tossed a no-hitter to help Russell Sage College Softball sweep Saturday's doubleheader vs. Keuka.
The lone Keuka batter to reach base was via a wild pitch on a strikeout, as the right-hander walked none. She fanned 13 Wolves in the opener and had strikes on 63 of her 88 pitches.
"We're extremely proud of Leah Madore for her no-hitter," said Head Coach Stephanie McKay . "Throwing a shutout no-no against Keuka, who swept a team the day before, really showed her ability to control a game from the mound."
After the 5-0 shutout victory, RSC completed a 3-1 Empire 8 Conference weekend with an 8-2 triumph in the nightcap.
Up 4-2 on Keuka (4-21/2-10 E8), the Gators broke it open with four-runs in the sixth.
Sophomore infielder Annalise Tyler (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) paced RSC by going 4-for-7 with four runs scored and three RBI in the sweep.
"This weekend, our pitching staff did an outstanding job of keeping the opposing teams' runs to a minimum, allowing our offense the opportunity to step up and produce at the plate," commented McKay. "We're excited for the next two weeks as we continue to focus on getting strong outings from our pitchers, paired with a hot offense. We're confident that with this combination, we'll be in great shape moving forward."
Next up on the schedule for RSC (10-18/6-6 E8) is a Tuesday afternoon E8 doubleheader at Hartwick.
