Gators post impressive third place finish at 2010 Skyline Conference Championship
Sage's Zach Meade earns Second-Team All-Conference honors after finishing in 6th at event.
Farmingdale, NY ---- The Sage Colleges men's golf team finished in third place in the race for the 2010 Skyline Conference Championship and the league's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III Championship.
The Gators were among the seven teams competing for two days at Bethpage State Park, the Red Course, a par 70, 6,900 yard course. The Rams of Farmingdale State College won their third straight conference team title after shooting a 597 for the event. St. Joseph's College finished as the runner-up with a two-day score of 627, while Sage had a 647 for the event (331-316).

Farmingdale's freshman Adam Larkin (Bellmore, NY/Mepham) finished as the medalist as he had a 145 (74-71), while St. Joseph's senior Matt Ranum (Bridgehampton, NY/Bridgehampton) finished in second place overall with a 146 (74-72) for the event.
The Gators had a banner day on the final day of competition as one teammate was injured on the first day and unable to continue in the championship, giving the Gators no wiggle-room for any additional injuries. The Gators responded to the challenge and proceeded to shoot the second-lowest team score on the second day after combining for a 316, two shots lower than the eventual second place team, St. Joseph's as the Eagles had a 318 on Monday.
Sage's freshman Zach Meade (Tupper Lake, NY/Tupper Lake) finished in sixth place individually to become the program's first player named to the Skyline Conference All-Star squad as he earned Second Team honors. He shot a 79 on day one and was tied for seventh and had a 74 on the final day and posted a 153 for the event.
Sophomore Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) finished with a two-day total of 163 on an 82 on opening day and an 81 on Monday and finished in 13th place. Sage junior Nick Osowicki (Amsterdam, Amsterdam) posted a 165 for the event on rounds of 86 and 79 and picked up 15th place. Rookie Rich Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) combined for a 166 (84-82) finished tied for 16th. Junior Shane McGowan (Schenectady, NY/Amsterdam) had an unfortunate injury on day one and had to withdraw after eight-holes on competition and was not able to continue in the event.
