The Gators (5-12/3-7 E8) scored a pair of fourth quarter goals just 1:09 apart to pick up a 3-2 home victory.
Sophomore forward Skyler Van Wormer (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland/SUNY Oneonta) had two of the goals, while sophomore defender Kari Gage (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) tallied the other.
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Brand (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) stopped three Utica shots to get the win (5-12) . She finished the night ranked second in the Conference with 161 saves and 9.47 saves per-game.
After a scoreless first half, Utica (4-11/3-7 E8) got on the board midway through the third period. The Gators answered with a spinning shot by Van Wormer to tie it. The goal kicked off a run of three RSC goals in 10:02 across the third and fourth quarters.
Down 3-1, Utica made things interesting, halving its deficit with 1:52 to go.
RSC, which outshot the Pioneers 15-13 and held a 5-3 advantage on corners, was able to keep the visitors at bay from there, controlling the ball and not allowing Utica another scoring opportunity.
