RSC Field Hockey Concludes Non-Conference Slate at Skidmore

Freshman midfielder Catherine Newkirk (Marathon, NY/Marathon) scored on the lone Gator shot on goal midway through the fourth period.
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Brand (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) (4-11), who opened the day leading the Empire 8 Conference in saves, turned away a season-high 22 shots in the road setback. This afternoon marked the ninth time this season that she made double-digit stops in a game.
Senior forward/midfielder Mia Angwin topped Skidmore (9-8), which held advantages of 44-3 on shots and 19-2 on corners, with two goals and an assist.
Looking ahead, RSC (4-11) closes its campaign with a pair of E8 contests. The Gators visit Houghton on Saturday, before hosting Utica on Wednesday.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: The fall marks the second with Carissa Warren leading the Gators…She arrived to Albany from two-time defending Empire 8 Conference Champion Hartwick…RSC goalkeepers were busy last fall, leading the NCAA Division III with 15.81 saves per-game…On an individual level, Brand totaled 146 saves across ten games played at goalie,14.60 per-game, good for third in the country…Junior midfielder Cheyanne Zobel (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), who opened the autumn with a program career record 17 assists, and Brand highlight the nine returning Gators…Zobel, a two-time third-team All-Empire 8 Conference selection, commenced the campaign ranked fifth among RSC players with 35 career points…Warren added six new players to this year's squad…Sophomore Skyler Van Wormer (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland/SUNY Oneonta) was selected the Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 14…The forward scored three goals in a 2-0 week...Newkirk was chosen the E8 Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 28...The rookie tallied four goals and an assist in a 2-0 week…Van Wormer opened the week tied for fifth in the E8 with nine goals, while Newkirk sat tied for sixth with eight…Brand began the week leading the E8 with 126 saves, while her 9.00 saves per-game was second-best on the circuit…She has now made double-digit stops 19 times in her career, including nine this fall.
