Meade shoots a 78 as Sage takes fourth place at Elms Spring Invitational
Granby, MA ---- The Sage Colleges men's golf team travelled to the Elms College Blazer Spring Invitational, the final event of the 2010-2011 season for the Gators. Elms College freshman golfer Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) carded a team-low round of 76 and classmate Kyle Simard (Thorndike, Mass.) finished a stroke behind (77) to help the Blazers to a team score of 320 and capture first place honors at the 2011 Blazers Spring Invitational hosted by Elms College at Westover Golf Course in Granby, Mass.
Elms placed three players in the top 10 overall to help pace the Blazers to victory. Rhode Island College finished in second with a combined score of 328, while Westfield State University shot a 329 to place third. Sage College (338) took fourth place, Castleton State College (353), Franklin Pierce University (358), and Anna Maria College (362) rounded out the seven-team field.
Westfield State's Tyler LaBonte was the individual medalist with a fantastic round of 73 on the strength of a 34 on the back nine to shoot one-over-par for the course. Fall finished second overall, while Simard garnered third place honors.
Sage's freshman Zach Meade (Tupper Lake, NY/Tupper Lake) finished in fourth place after shooting a round of 78 and was one of just five players shooting in the 70s.

For the Gators, sophomore Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) finished with an 84 and tied for ninth place, while junior Nick Osowicki (Amsterdam, Amsterdam) shot an 87 and was tied for 17th place on the day. Junior Dan Schulz (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) shot an 89 and junior Pat Lanoue (Hoosick Valley, NY/Hoosick Valley) had a 95 in the final round for the season.
