Women's Soccer comes from behind to knock off OW, 4-1; Gators break mark for most wins in a season

Old Westbury, NY –The Sage women's soccer team travelled to SUNY-Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference match-up on Saturday. Down 1-0 at the half, Sage rallied to score four unanswered goals and triumphed, 4-1. With the win, Sage has a new standard for victories in a season with 13 after collecting 12 wins last season. Sage is now 13-4 overall with an 8-1 mark in the Skyline Conference. OW drops to 8-6-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the league.

The Panthers of OW lead 1-0 Dana Yool scored at the 19:55 mark and held the lead until the second half when junior forward Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties) tied the score at 46:03, just 1:03 into the second half. She converted the feed from rookieSamantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury).

Junior forward Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) scored the go ahead goal at 55:52 on a pass from junior Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook).

Lynch added her second goals of the afternoon on a feed from Trimblett at 58:14. Koralus capped the day's scoring as she collected the final goal at 73:07 from rookie Jordyn Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie).

On the season, Trimblett leads the Gators with her 28 points on 10 goals and 8 assists, while Lynch is the team's second leading scorer with 18 points on 7 goals and 4 assists. Mason has 17 points with 3 game-winning goals as she has 7 goals and 3 assists. Mason moved into the No. 7 spot in the Gator career points list as she has 51 points on her 22 goals, which is No. 7 as Sage.

Senior co-captain Nicole Maher (Glen Clove, NY/Saint Dominic) earned the win in goal after making three saves. She is now 12-2 in goal with 0.78 goals against average. On the season, Sage has now outscored their opponents by a 57-12 margin, while posting eight shutouts.

Sage is back in action in the regular-season finale on October 27 at Purchase College in a 5:30 p.m. league match-up. Sage, which is tied for first place in the league with both Farmingdale State (8-1) and Mt. St. Mary College (8-1) will look to make a claim at the program's first Skyline Conference regular-season crown on Tuesday night.
