Sage's Saulsbery joins exclusive club
Sage's three-time team captain, Kate Saulsbery became just the second women's tennis player to record 50 or more career wins.
Troy, NY--With the close of the 2010 women's tennis season at Sage, the record books for the Gators are being updated as well. Three-time team captain and four-year letterwinner, Kathryn Saulsbery (Colonie, NY/South Colonie Central) joined an exclusive club in her final outing as a Gator this year.
Against Yeshiva, Saulsbery went 2-0 on the afternoon with a win
at No. 1 doubles and then tallied a convincing win at No. 2
singles. The win in doubles was the 50th of her
career. She tacked on her 51st win with a win at No. 2
singles. She finishes her career with a 51-42 record as a
Gator. She becomes just the second women's tennis player in the
history of the program to join the 50 win club.
She joins the ranks of Sage Athletic Hall of Fame inductee,
Elizabeth Lawrence Russillo (1998-2001), who holds Sage's career
singles (31) and doubles (42) wins records as well as combined wins
(73). Lawrence Russillo was inducted in Sage's Hall of Fame in 2002
for her efforts.
The two players belong to an exclusive club of women's tennis players at Sage as Lawrence Russillo combined for a record of 73-28 during her time at Sage and Saulsbery went 51-42.
