Sage drops Skyline match to Sarah Lawrence, 8-1

Flushing, NY – Sage's women's tennis team travelled to the USTA Center for their late-night match-up with Skyline Conference opponent, Sarah Lawrence College. The host Gryphons earned the 8-1 win as they improve to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the league. The loss puts Sage at 1-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Sage team co-captain Katie Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) posted a hard-fought victory at No. 1 singles. She beat SLC's Nora Landes, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-7) and improves to 4-5 in singles with a 2-2 mark in conference dual match singles action.

At No. 1 doubles, Katie Schultz teamed with her sister, rookie Emily Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park), but the pair was defeated by Landes and Sofia Reh, 8-1.

The Gators are back in action on Tuesday, October 6 hosting Green Mountain College at Prospect Park in a non-conference match at 4 p.m.
