Glenmont, NY---The Sage College women's soccer team hosted the Trailblazers of MCLA on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match. The two teams played to a scoreless regulation tie before the Trailblazers netted the game-winner with just seven seconds remaining in the second period of overtime. Scoring the game-winner was rookie midfielder Janelle Stannard (Valley Falls, NY/Hoosic Valley Central). The goal was the first of her career and puts MCLA at 5-7-1 overall, while Sage falls to 5-6.

Both teams had their chances in both regulation and the first overtime period before the only goal was tallied in the 109th minute.

MCLA's senior goalie Jen Wehner (Hartwick, NY/Cooperstown) collected the shutout win as she made a pair and improves to 5-7-1 in goal with three shutout wins.

Prior to the contest, Sage honored their 2011 seniors, goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) and forward Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley). McDonald had 12 saves  in the contest and drops to 4-5 in goal this fall.

During their careers, they have helped the Gators earn post-season appearances three straight seasons while helping the 2011 team to a possible berth. She is 2nd in career games started (44), 3rd in minutes played (3,852), 2nd in shutouts (12), 3rd in saves (318), and 2nd in GAA (1.31). She was named to the 2009 Skyline Conference All-Star First Team as well as the ECAC All-Star Second Team in her first season at Sage.

Marszalek already holds Sage's all-time goal scoring record with her 49 goals and has her sights on the career total point record as well as she is just three points away from the record (111 pts.).  She is also tied for 5th with 11 career assists, while ranking 7th in career games played (63), and 5th in career starts (62). She is a two-time Skyline Conference All-Star First Team pick for Sage and was also named to the 2009 ECAC All-Star Second Team.
