MAHWAH, NJ – Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) scored 14.5 points on 12 kills, but it wouldn't be enough as Sage fell to Ramapo 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22) in the Skyline Semifinals.
In the first set, Ramapo (20-13) got off to an early 16-6 lead until Sage (15-21) went on an 8-4 rally led by Guyton and Zachary Karl (Central Square, NY/Central Square). The Roadrunners responded with a 5-2 and took the first set 25-16.
After swapping points in set two, Ramapo went on a 4-1 led by Justin Feigeles to go up 12-8. Sage responded 5-3 run of their own with an ace from Guyton and kills from Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) and Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam). With the Gators back within one, the Roadrunners went on a 4-0 run to gain their longest lead of the set. With a score of 20-15, Sage went on 4-2 run with kills from Guyton, Karl, and MacArthur, but it wouldn't be enough as Ramapo took the second set 25-20
In set three, Sage got off to an early 9-4 lead led by Cecchi and Guyton. The Roadrunners then went on a 11-2 run to take the lead at 15-11. After swapping points back-and-forth, Sage went on a 4-0 with kills from Guyton and Cecchi to bring the score to 22-21. The Gator rally wouldn't be enough as Ramapo won the third and final set 25-22.
Cecchi added 9.5 points on nine kills with Karl and MacArthur combining for nine points and eight kills. Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Mohonasen) led the way with 20 assists, and Guyton chipped in two service aces.
On the defensive end, Melvin Tejada (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) totaled 10 digs and Karl had two total blocks.
Ramapo was led on offense by Connor Brandow (13.5 points, nine kills), Paul Close (11.5 points, nine kills) and Feigeles (11 points, nine kills). Mikhael Erushalimski recorded a game-high 29 points. The Roadrunners were led on defense by Feigeles (eight digs) and Brandow (three total blocks).
