Sage splits action on Sunday in Skyline Quad match to keep playoff hopes alive

Mahwah, NJ – The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to Ramapo College on Sunday night for a Skyline Conference quad match. Sage faced Ramapo College in the first match of the night, but fell 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-13). Sage then beat Purchase College 3-0 (25-12, 26-24,25-22). Sage is now 8-17 overall and 7-6 in the Skyline Conference.

Against the Ramapo College Roadrunners, Sage's senior captain Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) had 11 kills with five digs. Senior Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Spa) added four kills, while connecting for an ace with two digs. Senior Connor Thompson (Delmar, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) also finished the match with two kills, two aces and a dig with a block assist.

Sage's senior setter Matthew DeGeyter (Hudson, NY/Hawthorne Valley) had 17 setting assists with four digs, while senior libero Cory Gransbury (Round Top, NY/Cairo-Durham) added seven digs for the Gators. Senior outside hitter Zach Kuhn (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) added five digs and was perfect in his seven receptions attempts.

Against Purchase Sage was paced by 17 kills from Krowicki, while Sullivan added nine kills. Krowicki chipped in two digs and Sullivan added three digs. Senior Justin Pruiksma (Athens, NY/Coxsackie-Athens) added four kills with three digs and Thompson had four kills with three digs and four block assists. Kuhn tallied eight kills with a kill, while DeGeyter added 33 setting assists with four digs and a pair of block assists. Gransbury posted 10 digs in the action to elevate his team-leading total to 254.

Sage closes out the 2014 regular-season on Tuesday, April 8 hosting the College of Mt. St. Vincent at Kahl Gym in a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference match. Sage will honor their nine seniors on Tuesday in conjunction with senior night. The senior class includes Dylan Krowicki, Zach Sullivan, Connor Thompson, Cory Gransbury, Matthew DeGeyter, Zach Kuhn, Justin Pruiksma, Shane Gaffoor (Queens Village, NY/Thomas Edison) and Robert Ainsworth (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga).
