Gators two strokes off the lead at Skyline Conference Championship
Farmingdale, NY---- The Sage Colleges men's golf team travelled to the 2011 Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday and stand in second place in the race for the crown in the two-day tournament. The defending champions, Farmingdale State College fired a 307 on the first day of competition at the Beth Page Red Course, a par 70 course. The Gators are just two stroked out of the lead after shooting a 309 on Sunday and have all five of their competitors in the top 20 entering the final day of competition as the 2011 Skyline Conference champion will receive the automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship.
Sage's sophomore Zach Meade (Tupper Lake, NY/Tupper Lake) shot a 76 and is tied for third place with fellow Gator, junior Dan Schulz (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) who also carded a 76.
Sophomore Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Lake) had a 78 on the and stands tied for seventh place, while sophomore Rich Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) is in ninth place with a 79. Junior Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) shot an 89 on the day and stands in a tie for 19th place.
