Gators Return Home with Win over Albertus Magnus
Russell Sage College baseball made it back to Upstate New York after their spring break trip in Florida, and picked up a 5-2 victory over Albertus Magnus on Thursday night.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College baseball made it back to Upstate New York after their spring break trip in Florida, and picked up a 5-2 victory over Albertus Magnus on Thursday night.
The Gators (7-3) scattered 13 hits across the boxscore in the victory.
Senior Joe Karpierz (Latham, NY/Shaker/Xavier), junior Jayden Kennedy (East Patchogue, NY/Patchogue Medford/HVCC), senior Anthony Rizzo (Latham, NY/Shaker/HVCC), freshman Nick Irizarry (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield), and sophomore John Kelleher (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) all tallied a pair of hits.
Karpierz, Kennedy, Irizarry, and Kelleher all tallied an RBI as well, while the other run was delivered by a hit from senior Evan Grimes (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa).
Albertus Magnus got out to an early 1-0 lead, before starting pitcher Connor Griffin (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore/Lock Haven) kept them scoreless across his next 6.1 innings of work to pick up his second victory of the young season. The junior allowed just one earned run before sophomore Asa Dugan (Morris, NY/Morris Central) punched out two across 1.2 innings to pick up the save.
The Gators head to Massachusetts for a matchup with Tufts on Friday.
