Grand Slam Propels Gators to Road Win

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Russell Sage College won 5-3 at Houghton this afternoon.
The Gators scored all of their runs in the fourth inning of the Empire 8 Conference road victory. Freshman infielder Andrew Knapp (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) (above) hit a grand slam to highlight the outburst.
Freshman right-hander Colby Phelps (Troy, NY/Tamarac) permitted just one hit across the final five innings to secure the win in relief.
The Highlanders (10-18/3-7 E8) won the first game of the doubleheader, 17-2 (6 innings).
Freshman right-hander/catcher Dylan Scherillo (Drums, PA/New Dorp) doubled in a pair for the RSC (8-19/4-6 E8) runs.
The teams are slated to conclude their four-game series on Saturday afternoon at Joe Bruno Stadium. First game of the doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
