Sage falls at the hands of Cazenovia
Troy, NY ----The Wildcats of Cazenovia College posted a 16-3 win over their host, the Gators of Sage College. Cazenovia improves to 6-4 overall, while Sage drops to 0-7 on the season.
Cazenovia's senior Nicole Kimmel (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) tallied five goals to elevate her season totals to 40 goals with her effort to lead the Wildcats in scoring. Junior Christy Foster (Canton, NY/Hugh C. Williams) and senior Cassandra Gazeley (West Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park) both scored three goals in the match as well as Cazenovia lead 9-1 at the half.
Sage's junior Ginelle Butler (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) connected for a pair of goals, while junior Sarah Carcibolo (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie) scored her first career score in the contest. She now has 30 career goals and 34 points, which are both career marks she continues to add to her in her third season with the young program, while adding a personal-best 14 goals on the year.
Senior goalie Brittany Schafer (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson Central) made 10 saves with 16 goals allowed in net, while Cazenovia's sophomore Christina Marra (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) made seven saves in collecting the win.
Sage returns to action on Saturday, April 16 hosting Farmingdale State at 4 p.m. at RPI's Renwyck Field for a Skyline Conference match.
