Butler connects on another hat trick for Gators

Troy, NY  ----The Privateers of Maritime College handed the host Gators of The Sage Colleges a 13-4 setback in Skyline Conference women's lacrosse action. Sage hosted Maritime at RPI's Renwyck Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior Kristen Saporito (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) tallied five goals to lead the visitors to Skyline Conference win as they improve to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in the league. The Gators drop to 0-6 overall and in the conference.

Saparito connected on three first-half goal to help her team to a 6-3 halftime lead.  Senior Jill Davenport (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) added four goals and assist. Saporito leads Maritime with 24 goals and 25 points, while Davenport now has 17 goals with two assists for 19 points.

Sage's junior Ginelle Butler (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) connected on her second hat trick of the season as she netted three goals and continues to lead the Gators with her 12 goals, just one shy of her personal best season total of 13. She now has 28 career goals and 32 points, which are both career marks she continues to add to her in her third season with the young program.

Sophomore midfielder Erika Jackson (Cortland, NY/Dryden) tallied her first goal of the season.

Senior goalie Brittany Schafer (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson Central) made a season-high 12 saves with 13 goals allowed in net, while sophomore Courtney Marietta (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) made nine saves with four goals allowed in earning her second win on the season.

Sage returns to action on Thursday, April 14 hosting Cazenovia College at 4 p.m. at RPI's Renwyck Field for a non-conference match, the first of the year for the Gators.
