Sage men's tennis team collects program's first win as they down GMC, 6-3

 

Poultney, VT----The Sage Colleges’ men’s tennis team traveled to Green Mountain College for a non-conference match. The Gators would earn the 6-3 triumph in a marathon match that lasted nearly five hours for the first win in the history of the two-year old varsity program. A year ago Sage launched the program and they were 0-8 in the first year of competition. With Friday’s night’s win, Sage stands at 1-4 on the year and GMC drops to 0-5.

First NCAA Division III win for Sage's men's tennis program.      

Sage swept the doubles action with wins at first, second and third doubles and entered the singles action with a 3-0 lead. Junior Zach Reiff (Troy, NY/Troy) added a win for the Gators at first singles as he beat Samuel Dixon (Northborough, MA) in three sets. Junior captain Alexander Milkman (Chester, VT/Green Mountain Union) added a win for Sage at fourth singles as well with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Andrew Serow (Woodbridge, CT). Sophomore Alex Cabrera (Kingston, NY/Kingston) added a win at No. 6 singles to seal the victory.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, April 10 hosting St. Joseph’s College in a Skyline Conference match at Albany Academy for Boys at 1 p.m.
