Sage closes 2010 men's tennis season with setback to Castleton
Troy, NY----The Sage Colleges’ men’s tennis team hosted Castleton State College on Thursday afternoon at Prospect Park in a non-conference match. The Spartans posted the 8-1 win to improve to 11-2 on the year, while Sage finishes the 2010 season, their second varsity campaign with a 1-11 mark.
Prior to the match, Sage honored senior Elijiah Fagan-Solis (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) in conjunction with Senior Day. Fagan-Solis has excelled during his career at Sage and helped to build the foundation for future men’s tennis teams at Sage. A law and society major at Sage, he earned two letters with the team and has excelled in the classroom earning Dean’s List honors every semester. He also starred at Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School, where he played tennis and jv football. He was voted the most improved player in tennis at RCS, he earned a spot on the JV Football Capital Conference All-Star Team.

Sage’s junior Zach Reiff (Troy, NY/Troy) earned a win at first singles as Castleton’s Sam Levine was forced to retire. Reiff finishes the season with a 2-8 mark in singles, becoming the first player in the young program’s history to capture two singles matches in a season. Overall in doubles play two Gator tandems Fagan-Solis and junior Alex Milkman (Chester, VT/Green Mountain Union) as well as the grouping of sophomore Alex Cabrera (Kingston, NY/Kingston) and sophomore Joshua Hewitt (Albany, NY/Green Hope) both tallied a pair of wins in doubles play in 2010, also a program first.
