RSC Track and Field Competes at Middlebury on Saturday
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Russell Sage College Track and Field traveled to Middlebury on Saturday to compete in the Luke Hotte Field and Track Meet.
Christopher Whalen (Arlington, VT/Arlington Memorial) placed eighth in the 3000 meter with a time of 9:08.81, marking a program record for the freshman. Whalen also placed eleventh in the mile, finishing in 4:33.58.
Senior Dylan Lawless (Slingerlands, NY/Guilderland/HVCC) placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.72 meters, fifth in pole vault at 2.60m, and 15th in the shot put with a throw of 8.99 meters.
On the women's side, eight different Gators finished in the top twenty in the shot put. Sophomore Mia Merino (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) led the way for RSC, placing eighth with a toss of 9.75m. Freshmen Mia Paniccia (Rotterdam, NY/Mohonasen) and Savannah Smith (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy), junior Mercedez Cecelia-Storey (Pine Hill, NY/Onteora), and seniors Marisa Ethier (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga/HVCC) and Molly Oravsky (Galway, NY/Galway) all placed in the top 20 spots.
Looking ahead, the Gators are slated to compete next on Saturday, February 7 at Utica.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: RSC set 11 program indoor records in 2024-2025, seven by the men and four by the women…Both teams finished ninth at the 2025 Empire 8 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships…This year's Conference Championship meet will be held Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28 at Nazareth.
