Gator fall at the hands of the Golden Bears

Troy, NY—The Sage College's Men's Tennis team hosted Western New England University on Monday afternoon in a non-conference match held at Prospect Park. The Golden Bears recorded the 9-0 win to improve to 2-7, while the loss puts the Gators at 0-3.

At No. 1 doubles, WNEU's senior Chris Holzinger (Foster, RI/Ponoganset) teamed with sophomore Peter Lefrancois (Marlborough, MA/Marlborough) to beat Sage's junior Mike Hilton (Waterford, NY/Waterford Halfmoon) and sophomore Rob Hansen (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), 8-0.  Both were winners at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively as Holzinger bested Hansen, 6-2, 6-0 at first singles. Lefrancois was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over the Gators junior Gerard Beaudin (Delmar, NY/Home Schooled).

At No. 2  singles, WNEU's freshman Alexander Sause (Cusago, Italy) was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Hilton.

The Gators return to action on April 2 travelling to Bard College for a 6 p.m. non-conference match, while Western New England University is back in action tomorrow as well hosting Curry College at 3:30 p.m.
