ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Flag Football was stymied by the visiting SUNY Geneseo defense on Friday afternoon.
The Knights held RSC to just 158 of total offense and a 2.9 yards per-play average to pick up a 27-0 road Empire 8 Conference victory. SUNY Geneseo (5-3/3-1 E8), currently sitting atop the Conference's standings, came up with a pair of interceptions and permitted just nine first downs for the Gators.
Junior Bianca Ricciuto (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central/SUNY Poly) threw for 106 yards on 18 completions, mostly to sophomores Kaleigh Dean (Salt Point, NY/FDR) and Hailey Blake (Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central). Dean came up with seven receptions for 30 yards, while Blake hauled in five passes for 35 yards.
Defensively, RSC had five players make at least four tackles. Sophomore Allie Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville/FMCC) led all players with eight tackles. Sophomore Alia Charles (Brooklyn, NY/John Jay School for Law) added six tackles, one of which was for loss. Dean and senior Aniyah Kelley (New Castle, DE/William Penn) tallied five apiece. Kelley, a starter on the RSC Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball teams, recorded the only sack of the contest, part of a game-high two tackles for loss. Blake rounded out the group with four tackles, while having a pick.
RSC (1-2/1-2 E8) hosts Elmira tomorrow afternoon. Before the 4:00 PM start, RSC Athletics will recognize Kelley and senior Morgan Potter (Poland, NY/Poland Central) for their contributions to the women's flag football program this spring.
