Faas named Skyline Conference Softball Rookie of the Week; Welcome and Newberg tapped for honor roll
Troy, NY--The Sage College's softball team had three players cited by the Skyline Conference with the release of the weekly awards as freshman short stop Hillary Faas (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) was named the league's Rookie of the Week, while junior Meghan Welcome (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) and sophomore pitcher Kelsey Newberg (New Britain, CT/New Britain) were named to the Honor Roll.
Faas led the Gators and was named the Skyline Conference Softball Rookie of the Week for her play as Sage went 8-0 last week. She batted .500 with 10 RBIs, four doubles, a triple, and a homerun. She had an .821 slugging percentage for the week with no errors as she was perfect at the short stop position. Overall on the season, she is batting .389 and has a team-best 15 RBIs and five doubles.
Sage's Welcome was 12-26 for the week with 10 runs scored and a pair of homers in eight games, while Newberg added a 3-0 performance on the mound with two complete games and a one-hit shutout win.
