Old Westbury, NY---The Sage Colleges softball team travelled to SUNY-Old Westbury for a pair of Skyline Conference contests. OW tallied a 6-1 in the opener and fell 9-3 in the night cap. The Panthers improve to 5-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Sage drops to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the league.

Sage's freshman Hillary Faas (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) drove in junior outfielder Tiffany Bezio (Whitehall, NY/Whitehall) to break up the Panthers' shutout bid with a run in the top of the fifth. Bezio added a double to pace the Gators, while junior Rachel Smith (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) added a hit at the plate.
Sage's sophomore pitcher Kelsey Newberg (New Britain, CT/New Britain) struck out five in the contest and allowed five earned runs off nine hits as she drops to 0-4.
Game # 2 OW 9-3 Sage
Sage scored a pair in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead, which they held until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Panthers tacked on five runs and held a 5-2 lead after five innings.
Freshman Chantal Ceragioli (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) added a double and drove in a run for the Gators, while Faas was 2-3 at the plate.
Freshman pitcher Jackie Petteys (Fort Ann, NY/Hartford Central) started for Sage and worked 3.2 innings, scattering five earned runs with four strikeouts. She took the loss to fall to 0-2. Sophomore reliever Gabrielle Skillen (Milford, NY/Milford Central) worked 2.1 innings in relief with three earned runs and a strikeout.
Sage returns to action on Tuesday travelling to SUNY-Cobleskill for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.
