Gators post 10th place finish as Kelly finishes in personal-best 11th place
The men's cross country runners at Sage had a strong performance at Chadwick State Park at the Knight Invitational.
Newburgh, NY----Sage's men's cross country team competed on Saturday at the Mr. Saint Mary College Knight Invitational. Sage finished in 10th place in the field of 17 men's teams. The Gators finished ahead of nearby rival, Albany College of Pharmacy in the team standing. Sage finished with a team score of 265, their lowest team score of the season as they had three finishers in the top 50 in the race.
For the fourth time, Sage was led on the course by freshman co-captain Bryan Kelly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley Central) as he finished in 11th place for his first Top 15 finish. He posted a time of 30:28 for the 8 k course.
Fellow co-captain Jason Applegate (Schenectady, NY/Mohanasen) finished in 41st place in 32:56. Next to finish for Sage was sophomore Mesfin Solomon (Albany, NY/Albany) as he posted a time of 33:06 to take 44th place.
Senior John Dolny (Colonie, NY/Colonie Central) posted an 80th place showing with his time of 42:51, while freshman Christopher Nerf (Latham, NY/Shaker) rounded out Sage's scorers with his time of 52:11 to take 89th place.
The Gators will compete on October 16 at the Green Mountain College Invitational with an 11:45 a.m. start to the men's race.
