Sage rolls to record fifth straight win on Friday
Annandale-on-Hudson, NY--- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to Bard College to compete in the two-day Raptor Invitational.
The Gators opened tournament play with a 3-0 win over SUNY-IT (25-17, 25-19, 25-12) and then faced Lasell College in the nightcap and triumphed, 3-1 (25-17, 25-10, 23-25, 25-19). The Gators improve to 10-4 overall and are riding a five-match win streak, an active school record. With their 2-0 performance on Friday, the Gators have advanced to the championship match against Bard College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Against SUNY-IT, Sage's junior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) tallied nine kills with three digs and four total blocks.
Sage's junior setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) racked up 24setting assists with three digs and a pair of aces. Sophomore Scott Fitzgerald (Hudson Falls, NY/Queensbury) connected on eight kills with five digs, while sophomore Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) posted five kills with nine digs.
Against Lasell, Krowicki racked up a double-double with 19 kills with five digs and a .368 hitting percentage. Fitzgerald added 10 kills and six digs for the Gators. Hilland chipped in with 11 kills, six digs, with four total blocks.
Ray added 41 setting assists with four aces and 10 digs to help the Gators advance to the title game.
