Gators split action at Skyline Conference Quad-Match
Union, NJ--- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to Kean University on Sunday for a Skyline Conference quad match. Sage faced both Purchase College and Ramapo College in league action on Sunday.
The Gators started the afternoon riding a school-record eight match win streak. The team beat Purchase College for the second time this season, 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-14) and extended the streak to nine matches. The streak would come to an end in the night-cap.
Against the AVCA's #13 ranked Ramapo College, the Roadrunners posted a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-14, 25-16) and snapped the Gators' school-record nine match win streak in the process. Ramapo improves to 11-5 overall and 8-1 in the Skyline Conference, while Sage stands at 13-5 overall and 8-3 in the league.
Against Purchase, Sage's sophomore Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) tallied a match-leading 10 kills. Junior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) added nine kills with three digs and a three block assists.
Against Ramapo, Hilland added eight kills with five digs. He had a .900 reception percentage in the match, while sophomore Scott Fitzgerald (Hudson Falls, NY/Queensbury) added six kills with four digs and had a perfect reception percentage in the contest. Ray added 24 setting assists and now has 584 setting assists this season, while connecting on 1,295 career setting assists to continue to add to his active career school mark. Hilland now has 451 career kills with 119 career total blocks in just 36 matches played as a Gator.
Sage will be back in action on March 14 hosting Southern Vermont College in a 7 p.m. non-conference match in the Kahl Center.
