Junior Alexis Crossman (Corinth, NY/Corinth) spearheaded the Gator defense, establishing program single-game records of 19 groundballs and 14 caused turnovers. The midfielder, who holds school career records for groundballs, and caused turnovers, registered three goals in the win. She currently sits atop the Empire 8 Conference rankings for caused turnovers and groundballs per-game.
Attacker Samantha Shafer (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) added six goals on seven shots, two caused turnovers, and two groundballs. The grad student closed the day ranked sixth in the E8 with 2.44 goals per-game.
Junior midfielder Gianna Geraci (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) and sophomore midfielder Maia Hunter (Theresa, NY/Indian River) chipped in two goals and two assists each. Geraci controlled nine draws, tied for third-most in a game by a Gator, while sophomore goalkeepers Zoe Gravina (Albany, NY/Albany) (0-2) and Keegan Long (Gansevoort, NY/Schuylerville) (Win, 2-6) combined to stop six Elmira shots.
Senior midfielder Kelsey Stewart paced the Soaring Eagles (0-11) with a goal and an assist.
This evening's win concluded the home portion of the spring for RSC (2-8). The Gators, which scored 13 of the final 14 goals this evening, play their final two contests on the road. RSC is at SUNY Poly on Wednesday and travels to Nazareth on Saturday.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: The spring marks the first with Head Coach Geri Seif leading the Russell Sage College Women's Lacrosse program…She served as an assistant coach with nearby Union College from 2022-2025…The Gators delivered Seif her first career win on April 11 at Keuka…RSC won the Saturday E8 matinee 15-6…Five Gators return from last year's squad…Crossman junior defender Mackenna Huestis (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls), and Hunter headline the returnees…In 2025, Crossman topped RSC with 37 points on 31 goals and six assists, and set the program single-season records with 50 caused turnovers, 3.57 per-game…The midfielder, who holds the program records for caused turnovers and groundballs in a career, commenced the week leading the E8 with 4.11 groundballs per-game…She ranked second in the Conference with 2.67 caused turnovers per-game.
