SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Russell Sage College dropped both ends of this afternoon's non-conference doubleheader at Skidmore.
Outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill), a graduate student, and pitcher/infielder Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union), a graduate student, paced the Gator offense on the day. Dicranian was 6-for-8 with a home run, double, and two RBI, while Papas, the reigning Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year, went 5-for-7 with two runs scored and an RBI.
The Thoroughbreds (5-10) used a three-run sixth to take the opener 4-2.
Papas, senior infielder Katelyn Rice (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), and Dicranian each recorded two hits in the setback. Dicranian and junior outfielder Isabella Vano (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) laced RBI singles to account for the RSC markers.
Skidmore also utilized the late home cooking in the nightcap, putting across four runs in the sixth of a 7-6 comeback win.
Down 7-3 going to the seventh, RSC didn't go quietly back down the Northway, scoring three runs and getting both the potential tying and go-ahead runs on base before falling.
Dicranian went 4-for-4 with a homer and double, while Papas was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the second game.
Up next for the Gators (6-10) is an E8 twinbill on Friday at Elmira.
