Hilland and Fishman recognized by Skyline Conference
New York, NY--For the second week, The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball program produced the Skyline Conference player of the week and the rookie of the week. Honored from Sage were senior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) and sophomore outside hitter Andy Fishman (Cornwallville, NY/Cairo-Durham) with the league's top weekly honors.
Hilland, a team tri-captain, was instrumental in the men's team of opening week of league play as the Gators beat both NYU-Poly and NJCU, 3-0 on Saturday. He led Sage with 20 kills and 10 digs and had a .412 hitting percentage in the action. Overall on the season, he now has 56 kills with 37 digs.
Fishman, who is enjoying his second straight selection as the league' rookie of the week, averaged 3.17 kills and 1.33 digs over six sets last week. He had 10 aces and was a perfect 24-0 in reception attempts.
Sage stands at 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Skyline Conference. The Gators will be back in action on Thursday, February 7 at 7 p.m. in the Kahl Gym hosting Skyline Conference opponent, Yeshiva University. In the most recent AVAC Division III Men's Coaches' Poll, the Gators were listed as also receiving votes in the poll of February 5. The Gators will face four nationally ranked opponents this season, including No. 1 ranked Springfield College on March 29 at the Springfield College Invitational, March 29-30.
