Bio

In his final season, Mason Horne has etched his name into the record book becoming the program’s second 1,000 point scorer and then becoming the team’s all-time leading scorer. He has amassed 1,258 points on his career, while connecting for 480 rebounds in 93 games played at Sage.

As a senior, he has been the Gators’ high scorer on eight occasions, while leading the team on the boards seven this year.  He is also No. 2 in career field goals made (441), No. 1 in career field goals attempted (972), and No. 1 in career free throws made (326) and attempted (575). His 182 career assists ranks No. 2 at Sage, while his 104 career steals in No. 2 as well. Along the way this season, he earned a spot on the Nazareth College All-Tournament Team, while earning Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll status five times.

Last year’s Gator of the Year Award winner was Mason Horne. The junior forward led the Gators in scoring over the course of the 2012-2013 season with a 16.4 ppg average after adding 410 points. He also averaged 5.5 rpg average in 25 games played and started. He was the Gators' top scorer 13 times on the season, while five times also leading the squad in rebounding. He was named to the 2012-2013 Skyline Conference All-Star Second Team for his efforts. 

Over the course of his junior season, he was named to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll five times and ranked No. 5 in the league in scoring, while standing at No. 10 in field goal percentage (151-311, 48.6%), No. 8 in steals (1.56 per game), and No. 10 in defensive rebounds (104, 4.16 rpg). He was a major factor in the team’s appearance in the Skyline Conference Tournament, a program first, while also helping the team to the second berth into the ECAC Championships by season’s end. He was also named to the 2012-2013 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team for his efforts on the hardwood and in the classroom.

He is a two-time Gator Award winner after earning the honor as a sophomore in 2011-2012 as a sophomore. He finished the year as the leading scorer with 301 points, good enough for a 12.0 ppg average. He was the Gators’ high scorer 10 times, while finishing as high-rebounder on three other occasions. He had a 4.8 rpg average. Over the course of the season, he earned one selection to the Skyline Conference Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

As a rookie in 2009-2010, he was part of the start of Sage's varsity men's basketball program. He started 17 of 25 games played. He finished the season with a 10.6 ppg and 3.4 rpg average, while playing 24.0 minutes per game. He capped the season as the Gator Rookie of the Year Award recipient.

With considerable success as a rookie, Sage was looking forward to the return of Horne in 2010-2011, but he was forced to sit out after a suffering a preseason injury.

A graduate of LaSalle Institute, he earned four varsity letters and was honored as an all-league Big Ten player as a junior and senior. He also earned All-City Honors in Troy as a junior and senior, while serving as a team captain as a senior.

He is majoring in biology at Sage and would like to pursue a career as a physical therapist upon graduation. He is the son of Deven Horne and the late Milton Horne. His father Milton was a former basketball standout, who played in the 1970 NCAA Division I Final Four for New Mexico.
