Troy, NY----The Sage Colleges Athletic Director, Dani Drews announced the selection of Bruce Perry (Averill Park, NY) to serve as the head coach for the women’s and men’s tennis programs at The Sage Colleges. Perry, who is currently on staff at Sage as the assistant women’s basketball coach is no stranger to the Gators and will begin his additional role immediately.
Hired as Sage’s assistant women’s basketball coach in the fall of 2010, Perry has already assisted the Gators in all phases of the program from recruiting, scouting, game preparation and management. She added, “He has been an excellent addition to our basketball staff and we expect him to bring that same expertise and energy to our tennis program.”

He also coached another player to a state tournament quarterfinal appearance. He also directed the Cobleskill-Richmondville Girls’ teams to a pair of Section 2 runner-up finishes in back to back seasons, while he also had has players earn appearances in the Section 2 Tournament 12 times over his tenure with the girls’ and boys’ programs.
He has an extensive resume having served as the associate women’s basketball coach at SUNY-Cobleskill for the previous seven seasons. During that time, he was part of a program that produced a 142-53 record, while last year’s squad had an impressive 17-9 mark. Three times during his tenure at Cobleskill the Fighting Tigers had 20 or more victories, including an impressive 25-5 record in 2007-2008 to establish a school-record for wins, while attaining a No. 5 national ranking.
Prior to joining the Cobleskill staff, Perry worked at Junior College of Albany (Sage JCA) as an assistant women’s basketball coach from 1999-2003. During that tenure, he helped produce a number of quality teams that also included the 2001-2002 team that garnered a spot in the regional final after a 20-8 season.
Now in their third varsity season, Sage’s men’s tennis team will open the 2011 season on March 17 travelling to Castleton State College for a non-conference match. Sage’s first home match of the new season takes place on March 27 when Skyline Conference foe, Yeshiva University will face the Gators.
