Sage wraps competition at highly-competive Nazareth Tournament

Rochester, NY----The Sage Colleges women’s volleyball team wrapped action at the Nazareth College Golden Flyer Invitational. The tournament featured a highly-competitive field that featured eight teams that either earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2007 or 2008. Sage would fall 3-1 to Allegheny College (25-15, 19-25, 25-12, 25-12). Against the Cortland Red Dragon the match would go five games and Cortland triumphed 3-2. (25-12, 25-21, 22-25, 22-25, 15-6). In the final contest of the tournament, Fredonia State was 3-0 winner (25-11, 25-22, 25-9). The Gators are now 1-8 on the year.

Sage’s junior outside hitter Sarah Peacock (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg) posted 19 kills with 30 digs, while junior middle hitter Nicole Corbett (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) added 23 kills with eight blocks.

Sage’s senior middle hitter Kelli Jones (Troy, NY/Troy) recorded 16 kills with 31 digs.
The Gators return to action on Wednesday, September 6 at SUNY New Paltz for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
