Golfers are led by Rutland's round of 96

 

Middle Island, NY----The Sage Colleges men's golf team took to the course on Friday at the Saint Joseph's College Golden Eagles Invitational at Spring Lake Golf Course.  The tournament featured seven teams and the Gators picked up a seventh place showing, while Division I Manhattan College captured the event with a score of 304 for the round, markings the team's second tournament victory on the week. Sage would score a 412 on the day.       

Taking to the course for the Gators were graduate student Elias Rutland (Nassau, NY/Columbia) as he led the team with his round of 96, while senior captain, Mike Triscari (Troy, NY) was next with a 102.  Junior Evan Thorpe (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) shot a 106 and sophomore Joshua Weaver (Sandlake, NY) rounded out the scoring for Sage with a 108.

Manhattan's Matt Creamer was the medalist with his 70 for the day.

Under the direction of second-year head coach, Luke Scala, the Gators will take to the links again on Tuesday, September 22 when they travel to the Purchase College Tournament at Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, NY.
