Gators drop a pair in quad match action

 

Albany, NY----The Sage Colleges women's volleyball team hosted a quad match on Saturday in the Kahl Campus Center featuring Ramapo College, Skidmore College and Brockport State. Brockport State would go 2-0 on the day with a 3-1 win over Skidmore College and a 3-1 win over Ramapo College. Skidmore and Ramapo each went 1-1 on the day, while Sage was 0-2. Sage is now 8-16 on the season, while Ramapo College is now 18-6. Skidmore improves to 17-6, while Brockport State is 12-12.

For the Gators in the first match on the day against Ramapo, Sage College's junior Sarah Peacock (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg) added 10 kills and 19 digs, while junior Nicole Corbett (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) added eight kills with three blocks. Senior Kellie Jones (Troy, NY/Troy) had a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs. Junior Cheryce Harvey Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) contributed nine digs with four kills, while sophomore Kristyn Buonincontra (Shelton, CT/Shelton) had 33 assists with 10 digs.

 Against Skidmore, Sage would be led by Peacock with 12 kills and eight digs. Jones added seven kills and nine digs, while Corbett had three blocks with four kills. Sophomore libero Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Bishop Gibbins) added 13 digs for the Gators.

The Gators will return to action on Wednesday, October 21 hosting Union College in the Neff Athletic Center. Wednesday's match will mark the third annual Crankin' for a Cure contest with Union and Sage. The "Dig Pink" event, which is part of a nationwide breast cancer awareness rally. Hundreds of Colleges and high school teams across the country will participate this year to help raise awareness about breast health education as well as raise funds in the fight to eradicate the disease that afflicts some many women in the U.S. and around the world.
