Gators split action on the day in Skyline Play
Brooklyn, NY----The Sage Colleges women's volleyball team traveled to NYU-Poly for a Skyline Conference tri-match. Sage would open the day with a 3-0 win over Mt. St. Mary College (25-15, 25-21, 25-18) to elevate their conference win streak to 23 matches. NYU-Poly would then hand Sage their first-ever loss in the Skyline Conference as they beat the Gators, 3-1 (25-12, 25-12, 21-25, 25-20). The loss marks the first loss for Sage since entering the league in the fall of 2007. Sage now stands at 8-13 overall and 4-1 in the Skyline Conference.
Against Mt. St. Mary, Sage's junior middle hitter Nicole Corbett (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) added 10 kills and three blocks. Junior Sarah Peacock (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg) paced the team with her six kills and 13 digs. Sophomore libero Kelsey Wilson (Shelton, CT/Shelton) added 13 digs and junior middle hitter Michelle DeNisco (New Hampton, NY/Goshen) connected on a pair of blocks with four kills.
In the match against the Fighting Blue Jays of NYU-Poly, Corbett added seven kills with four blocks. DeNisco recorded 21 assists and 10 digs for a double-double. Peacock added 17 digs with seven kills.
The Gators return to action on October 15 for a non-conference match at Oneonta State at 7:00 p.m.
