Olmstead Named Skyline Player of the Year

Lawrenceville, NJ - Kaitlin Olmstead (Horseheads, NY) became the first volleyball player to be named Skyline Conference Player of the Year.  Krista Provost (Duanesburg, NY) and Nicole Corbett (Schodack, NY) were also named to the Skyline Conference first team.

Olmstead led the Gators to a 24-11 year to date, a regular season crown, which included a 9-0 Skyline Conference sweep, a second straight Skyline title and a second straight trip to the NCAA tournament.  The senior setter closed the 2008 season among the conference leaders in several categories.  She was number four in hitting percentage with .310, number three in assists with 240, number four in services aces with 23, and number eight in digs with 80.  She was named player of the week once during her 2008 campaign.

Corbett and Provost earned spots on the first team by being major contributors to the Gator squad.  Corbett, a two time player of the week, led the conference in hitting percentage and blocks, with .406 and 27, respectively.  Corbett tallied 68 kills in conference play, putting her at number six in the conference.  Provost was named player of the week once this year.  The senior led the team in kills and digs.

The Gators are gearing up for their NCAA first round performance against Stevens Institute of Technology Thursday, November 13th.  Corbett, Provost, and Olmstead will be looking to lead the number eight Gators past the number one seeded Ducks.
