Gator Volleyball Squad Finishes Fourth In Oneonta Tournament

Oneonta, NY- The Gator volleyball squad wrapped up the Oneonta Invitational Saturday afternoon with a win over Geneseo and a loss to Skidmore, finishing the tournament 2-2, and coming in fourth place out of eight teams.

In the first match of the day Sage defeated Geneseo, after dropping the first two games the Gators fought back and took the match in five games; 21-25, 9-25, 25-2, 25-16, 15-8.  Sophomore Nicole Corbett (Schodack, NY) led the Gators with eleven kills and seven blocks, while Krista Provost (Duanesburg, NY) added eight kills and 19 digs.  Kellie Jones (Troy, NY) continued to be a threat for Sage as she recorded seven kills and 13 digs.  Setter Kaitlin Olmstead (Horseheads, NY) showed her versatility playing in in the setting position and on the right side, allowing her to tally five kills, 21 digs and 16 assists. 

The Gators fell to Skidmore College in the final match of the day three games to zero; 15-25, 19-25, 25-27.  Corbett led the way with ten kills and four blocks, while Jones added seven kills and 13 digs.  Provost recorded twelve kills for Sage.

Corbett was named to the all tournament team at the close of the day.  The Gators have a week off and will return to the court on October 8th when they host conference foe Purchase College at 7pm.
