Sage Splits In First Day of Oneonta Invite
Oneonta, NY - The Sage Colleges volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday evening at the Oneonta State Invitational, moving their record to 14-7.
In the first match of the day the Gators faced local rival Union College (20-1) and lost one game to three; 15-25, 26-24, 21-25, 18-25. Head Coach Lisa Gallagher stated, "Although we lost in four, I thought we played exceptionally well and we were well prepared. I was impressed with our focus and we were able to take a game from them, which is an improvement upon the last time we faced them". Krista Provost (Duanesburg, NY) led Sage with ten kills and 17 digs, while Nicole Corbett (Schodack, NY) added eight kills and four blocks Kellie Jones (Troy, NY) contributed seven kills and 20 digs.
Sage defeated SUNY Plattsburgh in three games in the second match of the day; 25-20, 25-15, 25-14. Corbett recorded five blocks and seven kills, while Provost tallied a double double with ten kills and ten digs. Jones had her first double double of the season with ten kills and eleven digs.
The Gators will face SUNY Geneseo at 11:30 am in the final day of the Oneonta Invitational.
