Sage drops first conference match to St. Joe's, 7-2

Islip, NY----The Sage Colleges women’s tennis team traveled to St. Joseph’s College for a Skyline Conference match. The Golden Eagles would come away with the 7-2 win to hand Sage their first conference loss of the year and snap the Gators’ six-match win streak. Sage is now 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the Skyline Conference, while St. Joseph’s College improves to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the Skyline Conference.

Sage’s senior Christina Gray (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) was a winner for the team as she posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kelly Crawford at first singles. Gray stands at 8-2 overall on the year and 7-0 in dual match singles play. She teamed at first doubles with sophomore Erica Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) for a victory at first doubles, 8-5 as they beat Crawford and Carolyn Hartmann. The Gators duo is 6-3 overall this fall with one another, while boasting a 6-1 dual mark.

Sage was back in action on Saturday against NYU-Poly in a Skyline Conference match. Mid-way through the match, the rains arrived and the match has been postponed. No new rescheduled date has been set.
