Gators Pull Out Win In Overtime
New York, NY- The Sage Colleges women's basketball team put together a dramatic, overtime win over Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University (2-17 overall, 0-14 conference) this afternoon by a score of 77 to 71.
The Gators were ahead at halftime by a score of 35 to 19 but the Yeshiva University Maccabees battled back in the second half. The Gators received a game-tying three point shot with only three seconds remaining in regulation from junior guard Amanda Crans (Watkins Glen, NY), who scored 12 points for the day. Five different Gators put up numbers in the double figures for the win. Sophomore point guard Liz Donk (Phelps, NY) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Senior forwards Sarah Otto (Albany, NY) and Kelley Barnes (Schenectady, NY) contributed solid play under the basket. Otto scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds while Barnes added 6 points and 9 rebounds.
The Sage Colleges (3-18 overall, 3-11 conference) will enjoy a few days of rest before hosting Polytechnic University on Thursday at 6pm. The game is an important one for Poly and Sage, currently seeded in the 7th and 8th spots in the conference, because each team only has four games to secure the final spot in the Skyline Conference Play-offs.
