Bio
Assistant Coach Alex Duncan is in his fifth season as an assistant coach in 2026. Duncan, who brought 12 years of playing experience and a decade of coaching experience to the Gators, assists head coach Reid Hartl in all aspects of the program.
 
The duo helped RSC qualify for the New England Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament in their debut spring and the New England Volleyball Conference Championship Tournament in  both 2024 and 2025.
 
"Alex and I push each other to learn and grow when on the court together and that dynamic is what will help this program develop," said Hartl at the time of his appointment. "We will constantly be striving to learn more as coaches, and with our unique backgrounds we will be a well rounded coaching staff.”
 
Duncan, who played collegiately for the club team at Carnegie Mellon, comes to RSC from the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (BHBL) School district. He coached their middle school/modified program and assisted the Section 2 champion BHBL varsity program.  Duncan also coached Lakeside Club Volleyball’s 14U boys team from 2019-2021.
 
“I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Sage Volleyball program," said Duncan at the time of his hiring. "Reid and I both see enormous potential for our program and are excited to push the Gators to be perennial NECC championship contenders."
 
In 2023, Duncan became the Head Boys' Volleyball Coach at Guilderland High School.  He was chosen as an AVCA 30 Under 30 Award Winner in 2025.
 
Duncan earned his undergraduate and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon in 2017 and 2018.
