Samoranski Pulls in National Honor

Russell Sage College Senior outside hitter Catelyn Samoranski (Balston Spa), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week after leading her team to their first-ever Skyline Conference Championship, and first-ever bid to the NCAA tournament.
Samoranski began the day with a 13-kill, eight-dig, two-ace performance in helping the Gators to a sweep of Mount St. Mary's. She followed that up by hitting .529 while scoring a double-double with 18 kills, 12 digs and four aces in Russell Sages' second sweep in a row, this one against Farmingdale. For the week, Samoranski hit at a .388 clip and averaged 5.16 kills, 3.33 digs and 6.16 points per game.
Samoranski was also named Most Valuable Player of the Skyline Championships as well as garnering a Skyline Player of the Week Award. She is the first women’s volleyball player from Russell Sage to be named Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week.
The Gators travel to Stevens Institute of Technology to face SUNY Cortland Thursday at 1pm for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
