Veteren Squad Expected to Lead Gators

The Gator soccer team prepares for the 2007 season with one of the largest squads in seen in Head Coach Barry Balkwell’s tenure.

Returning Senior captains Amy Azzaro (Schenectady), Kailyn Kulzer (Schaghticoke), and Lisa Reles (Colonie) will look to lead Sage throughout their first year of competition in the Skyline.  All three have consistently produced on the field for Balkwell throughout the careers.  Azzaro and Kulzer will control the tempo of the game from the midfield positions while Reles and fellow senior Meghan Adamo (Pittsfield, MA) are expected to remain scoring threats on the field.

Seniors Kelli Siracusa (Lansingburgh) and Stephanie Ziemlak (Adams, MA) along with junior Alex Adams (Saratoga) will be relied upon heavily to lead the defense.  With their speed and athleticism teams will have a tough time getting a clean look at the net.

Schuyler Kokernak (Watervliet) will be the Gators last line of defense at keeper.  When Kokernak leaves the net to offer her talent in the field, Senior Amy Logan (Albany) will step in between the posts.

Newcomers Amanda Potter (Schenectady) and Sarah Briggs (Cohoes) join the Gator defense while freshman Ashley Allain (Stillwater) will step in to complete the midfield; all of which Balkwell expects to make significant contributions from the start.

Sage opens their season at RPI on September 5th at 7:30pm.  The Gators first home contest is Sunday September 16th as they face SUNY Morrisville at 1pm.
