Killeen and Wampler tally goals to lift Sage past Old Westbury
Nicole Killeen and Rachel Wampler scored their first goals of the year as Sage earned a key Skyline win.
Old Westbury, NY---The Sage Colleges women's soccer team collected a key Skyline Conference win on Saturday on the road as the Gators beat SUNY Old Westbury, 2-0. With the win, Sage is now 5-4-1 overall and 2-2 in the Skyline, while Old Westbury drops to 4-6-1 overall and 3-3 in the league.
Sage would jump out to a 1-0 lead at the break as junior Nicole Killeen (Petersburgh, NY/Berlin) scored what would be enough to serve as the game-winner with her tally at 16:16. The goal was the first of the year for Killeen. Rookie Rachel Wampler (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) added a score at 50:55 for her first score as well and gave Sage a 2-0 lead, a lead that would withstand Old Westbury's challenges.
In goal for the Gators, junior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) recorded seven saves for her third shutout of the year as she turned away every shot she faced on the day. Old Westbury's Jennifer Kupfer took the loss.
Sage returns to action on October 14 hosting the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference match starting at 3:30 on the campus of the University at Albany.
