DeFoe's goal propels Sage to semifinals

SAGE ADVANCES IN SKYLINE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT ON DEFOE'S GOAL
Newburgh, NY---The Sage Colleges women's soccer team traveled to Mt. St. Mary College on Tuesday for the Skyline Conference Quarterfinals. After falling to Mt. St. Mary in the regular-season, Sage would exact revenge in the post-season as the Gators tallied a 1-0 win on Tuesday. Sage advances to the semifinals and will now face top seeded Farmingdale State College on Thursday, November 5 at 2 p.m. Sage improves to 9-7-1 overall, while Mt. St. Mary is now 9-8-2.
For the Gators, junior defender Samantha DeFoe (Galway,
NY/Galway) would score the 
lone goal of the match at 76:48 on a pass from junior back
Sarah Briggs (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) off a corner
kick. The goal is the third of the year for DeFoe.
In goal for the Gators, was Sage's junior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) as she made six saves on the night to earn her sixth solo shutout and Sage's seventh on the fall. Mt. St. Mary College's Casey Roland made three saves on the night.
The win marks the first post-season victory for the Gators after falling in the first round of the Skyline Tournament the past two seasons as well as the 2008 ECAC tournament.
