Gators fall on Saturday at Skidmore Tournament

Saratoga Springs, NY–The Gators of The Sage Colleges' wrapped up action on Saturday at the Skidmore College Tournament on Saturday. The Gators faced the Red Dragons of Cortland State in the first match of the day, but dropped the match, 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-22). Sage then faced Nazareth College, dropping a 3-1 decision (23-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-12) to drop to 7-13 on the year.

Against Cortland State, senior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) racked up a team-best 10 kills in the action. She had a .212 attack percentage in the match with a pair of digs. Sage's senior tri-captain Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) added six kills with seven digs, while junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) connected for five digs. She also added a .882 reception percentage with just two errors in 15 receiving attempts.

Senior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) tallied 13 setting assists with four digs and three aces, while graduate performer Katy Rimwai (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) tallied two aces with five digs and earned a .917 reception percentage in the action.

Against the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College, Sage's offense took the first set with a 25-23 score, but dropped the next three sets to fall, 3-1.

Berard added 10 kills with three digs, while Campolieta had 10 digs with eight kills. Liebig had three aces with 22 setting assists with two kills and six digs.  Rimawi added eight digs with two aces and a kill for the Gators.  Freshman defensive specialist Nicole Groll (Southington, CT/Southington) racked up 13 digs. Graduate performer Devyn Morlock (Latham, NY/Shenendehowa) added 12 digs.

Berard was placed on the all-tournament team for the Gators.

Liebig now has 2,903 career setting assist, ranking her No. 3 all-time at Sage and her 182 career aces vaulting her into the No. 4 spot at Sage as she is now tied with Kellie Jones (2006-2009). Berard who ranks in both career kills and blocks at Sage now has 793 career kills and stands No. 7 all-time in kills. She has 142 career total blocks is in sole possession of the No. 8 spot at Sage. Schneiderman now has 858 career digs and is No. 17 at Sage on the career record book after moving ahead of both Krista Provost (866, 2007-2008) and Elizabeth Roberts (860, 2002-2005).

Sage is back in action on October 4 when they travel to Massachusetts to take on the Trailblazers of MCLA in a 7 p.m. non-conference match at 7 p.m.
