Volleyball team shuts down Purchase as win streak grows

 

Purchase, NY----The Sage Colleges women's volleyball team traveled to Purchase College for a Skyline Conference match on Friday night. The Gators would earn the 3-0 win to improve to 7-13 overall and 4-0 in the Skyline Conference. Purchase College drops 6-14 and 1-2 in the Skyline Conference.  Sage has now won 22 consecutive conference matches since entering the league in the fall of 2007. Sage beat Purchase 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.

Sage's junior Sarah Peacock (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg) paced the team with her 10 kills and five digs. Senior middle hitter Kelli Jones (Troy, NY/Troy) added five kills with five digs, while junior middle hitter Nicole Corbett (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) added six kills and seven blocks.

The Gators will put their conference win streak on the line again on Saturday when they travel to NYU-Poly for a tri-match as they will also meet Mt. St. Mary College. Action gets underway on Saturday as the Gators take on Mt. St. Mary at 1 p.m.  and NYU-Poly at 3 p.m. Sage and NYU-Poly share the top spot in the Skyline Conference as they enter the contest with perfect 4-0 league records and first place in the conference on the line.
