Sage rolls to 19th straight Skyline win

Troy, NY----The Sage Colleges women's volleyball team hosted Bard College in the Neff Athletic Center on Tuesday night. The match was the first Skyline Conference match of the season for both teams. Sage would roll to a 3-0 victory (25-10, 25-8, 25-9) to extend the program's conference regular-season unbeaten streak in league play to 19 matches. Since joining the league in the fall of 2008, the Gators have never lost a Skyline Conference match and are the conference's two-time reigning champions. With Tuesday's win, Sage is now 4-11 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while Bard drops to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the Skyline Conference. The Gators have also now won three of their last four matches.

Sage would combine for 17 serving aces on the night. Sage's senior middle hitter Kellie Jones (Troy, NY/Troy) added her third straight double-double as she racked up 11 kills with 10 digs. Sophomore Kristyn Buonincontra (Shelton, CT/Shelton) added 18 assists with seven aces and three digs for the Gators, while junior outside hitter Sarah Peacock (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg) connected for three kills with three aces and six digs.

Bard was led on the night by freshman Cara Chalk (Canton, GA/Cherokee) as she had three kills with four digs, while sophomore captain Rachel Van Horn (Lawrence, KS/Lawrence) added two kills with nine digs. Rookie Charlotte Antoine (Brussels, Belgium) added two kills with a dig and a block for the Raptors.

Sage takes to the court again on Saturday, September 26 hosting a Skyline Conference tri-match with the College of Maritime and Farmingdale State College in the Neff Athletic Center commencing at 11:00 a.m., while Bard travels to Purchase College for a Skyline tri-match with NYU-Poly, also on Saturday at noon.
