SAGE TO HOST CRANKIN' FOR THE CURE EVENT; CAMPUS PLANNING FOR A PINK OUT

Troy, NY----On October 21, the women's volleyball teams from The Sage Colleges and Union College and will be going Passionately Pink for the Cure® to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. Participating is simple! Just wear pink on October 21 and make a donation of $5 or more to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the leader of the global breast cancer movement. The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has been involved with breast cancer awareness the past few years. Each October, which is national breast cancer awareness month, volleyball programs at every level of the game have been coming together to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.

The Sage Colleges and Union College have participated in that venture with their efforts and are asking for your support by wearing pink on October 21, not only to their match that night but all day as they are hoping for a Pink Out!

If you'd like to contribute online, please use the link below. In return for your contribution, you'll get a pink ribbon pin and the satisfaction of helping to move us closer to a world free of breast cancer.

Please contact Sage Head Coach Lisa Gallagher at 518-244-2417 (or at greinl@sage.edu) if you have any questions or would like to be involved in planning the event. Thanks in advance for your help and for showing your true colors by participating Sage's Crankin' for the Cure contest on October 21.

The event in 2008, which featured pink jerseys for both teams, was titled "Passionately Pink for the Cure" and nearly $600 was raised on site for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure program for breast cancer research. Including online and other donations, the event raised over $1800.  The late Dr. Aggie Stillman was honored before the match began.  Stillman was a member of the Sage Community, who lost her battle with cancer in 2008.
